As we study and research Covid 19,   recommendations continue to change by the day and sometimes the hour. Wearing masks has become one of those on going topics that continues to change as we move forward through this pandemic. The U.S. has seen through other counties where cultures practice mask - wearing, that to a varying degree wearing a mask has coincided with reduced numbers of Covid 19.

MAKE NO MISTAKE WEARING A MASK IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR SOCIAL DISTANCING!

I want to make sure everyone understands this is no replacement for staying home and social distancing, yet an additional measure to help reduce the spread. N95 should all still be reserved for the Health Care field, and those taking care of Covid 19 patients, and on the front lines.

Masks For Health Care & Community  Leaders

At this time we are making as many masks as we can to donate to health care workers,  as well as any community leaders or staff in our community. These are not to replace a N95 but if you are limited on the N95 many are wearing these as a cover to help your N95 last longer as well as using them as alternative masks as last resort when there is a shortage and you are reserving your N95 PPE for Health Care workers who are exposed to Covid 19 patients. Please let us know if you would like us to make you and/or you team one.

Masks For the General Public

We have also gotten several requests from the general public, we would like to work towards filling those needs as well. We are providing these masks as well, and are asking for a small Pay-It-Forward donation so that we can continue to make one for the next person in line.

If you are able to to donate any supplies, materials, thread, elastic, 100% cotton fabric, 100% cotton flannel I would be ever so grateful and can continue to make additional masks. If anyone would like to join us in our efforts sewing, cutting, where ever your talent lies just let us know.

DISCLAIMER

These masks were adapted from online patterns with a filter pouch added. I do not own the rights to them or claim to know the efficacy of the filtration. I have spent the last week researching and trying to find the best way to produce a mask with filtering media. After much searching the one I found that appealed to me the most is being used by community and group of sewers in another state. They have been working with,  and providing fabric masks with the filtering option to many organizations and hospitals utilizing the  3M 1900 filter or the equivalent of. Note this is not for health care workers who are working with Covid 19 patients, but utilized by others so as to free up the N95 PPE for the workers most exposed. This is only utilized when nothing else is available, it is NOT a replacement for the N95 and there is NO data to the effectiveness of using it. There is NO fiberglass in this product. You are utilizing this mask at your own risk, and by wearing or requesting one you take full responsibility.
